Alpha Male Attraction

Speaking for myself, one reason some women are attracted to alpha males is that males have traditionally been seen as protectors since the beginning of recorded human history. Many women yearn for that but are hesitant to express it, while many men have been emasculated by society. For a fictional alpha male to break through the gatekeepers’ walls is exciting for many women. The fact that this dynamic is criticized reveals the underlying reason why people turn to fiction.

I still remember the “Marlboro Man” and the universal appeal he held for women, which was during a time when feminism was gaining momentum.

People need to read whatever they want to read to escape reality through fiction. The best lessons I’ve learned in life came from fictional worlds inspired by the author’s real-life experiences. (A huge toast to Edith Wharton, Dorothy Parker, and all the poets out there.)
